Anne was caring, vibrant, and had a wicked sense of humor. Honestly, if you were ever looking for #goals on how to live a very full and fulfilling life, you would only have to look to all the things she accomplished in her lifetime for an ideal role model.
When we first started W.I.S.H. at the end of 2020, she was excited for us and was one of our very first donors. In fact, she helped us reach our very first milestone goal that allowed us to say... Hey! We are actually doing this! This is ALL real. We know that she would be extremely proud of how far we have made it.
Within the Academia world, Anne started in Occidental College's Business Office in 1980 before moving to the bookstore. In 1995 she was named Manager and then promoted to Bookstore Director in 2007 until she retired on June 30, 2011. After retiring, she continued to work with Eagle Rock Chamber of Commerce and the Women’s Twentieth Century Club of Eagle Rock. She also had the honor to serve as a commissioner and past Chair of the Pasadena Commission on the Status of Women, a three-term President of the Democratic Club of Pasadena Foothills, and a board member of California Federation of Women’s Clubs and the California Commission on the Status of Women.
Anne was a long time member of the L.A. County Democratic Central Committee and the California Democratic Party State Central Committee, where she was the 55th Assembly District Woman of the Year and was honored with the Regional Directors’ ‘Outstanding Service Award’ by the California Democratic Party. She also ran the Pasadena Area United Democratic Headquarters (UDH) store in every recent election cycle and took an active role in getting people registered to vote.
She took leadership roles in the Pasadena Area for several organizations, including multiple non-profits. Examples include LWV, the YWCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley, and the All Saints Church Foster Care Project.
As the cornerstone of her family, Anne and her husband Roger had 2 children, Cindy and Clinton, and one granddaughter, Juliette. She was also a loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend, all who miss her immensely.
Our hope at W.I.S.H. is that you, as the individual submitting for this grant, are able take away some sort of inspiration to live life to the absolute fullest, as Anne did, in your pursuit of knowledge.
